Privacy Policy
There is some technical gobblededook below, but the important thing to know is that I will never do anything sinister to people who visit my website. No malware will knowingly be downloaded to your computer while visiting my site and information that you may provide me with will not be used in any devious or nefarious way.
If you give me your e-mail address I will not pass the information on to spam mailing lists and I will not send spam mail myself. In the past, spammers have sent out spam purportedly from my e-mail address but this is something that they have faked.
Log Files
As with most other websites, I have access to the data contained in log files that are generated each time someone visits this site. The information in the log files includes visitors' IP (Internet Protocol) address, the browser they used to visit the site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time they visited our site, and which pages were visited.
This information is general and anonymous. Although I can see which pages were visited, and from which countries, I have no information related to individual users.
Cookies And Web Beacons
Cookies are used on this site by some third party software providers, for instance to track visitor numbers and to determine whether visitors have visited the site previously or for the first time.
I also display third party advertisements. Some of the advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on this site, which will send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program or Agoda through the Agoda Partners affiliate program) information including your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit the site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing Thailand tourism ads to someone in foreign countries, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing Thailand ads to someone who visits Thailand sites).
You can choose to disable or selectively turn off the third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with this site, as well as other websites, and this action may render certain functions inoperable.
The DoubleClick DART cookie is used by Google in the ads served on this website. When you visit this website and either view or click on an ad, a cookie may be dropped on your browser. The data gathered from these cookies will be used to help AdSense publishers better serve and manage the ads on their site(s) and across the web.
- Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
- Google's use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to visitors of this site based on their visit to this site and to other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.
Interest Based Advertising
I use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit this website. These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices about not having this information used by these companies, click here.
Interest-based advertising allows Google Adwords advertisers to display Google Adsense ads on this site based on a user's previous interactions with them, such as visits to advertiser websites and also to reach users based on their interests (e.g. "sports enthusiast"). To develop interest categories, Google recognises the types of web pages that users visit throughout the Google content network. As an example, if they visit a number of sports pages, Google will add them to the "sports enthusiast" interest category.
As a result of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that came into effect on 25 May 2018 visitors to my site located in the EU should no longer see any personal (interest based) ads.
