Animal Hospitals In Hat Yai
Introduction
Hat Yai has a lot of hospitals, clinics and dental clinics for humans, but it also has a lot of medical facilities for animals. There are hospitals with facilities to admit sick animals and lots of small veterinary clinics.
There is also at least one travelling vet who makes house calls. Dr Pet (a good name for a vet) has been to my house several times for health issues with my cats. At one stage of his career he worked in zoos treating lions, tigers and other wild animals. He can be reached on +66 (0)89 738 1172. Not only is it convenient for owners, but pets get very stressed being put in a cage an taken to the vet so it is more comfortable for them to be treated at home.
Below is information for a few animal hospitals. I will add more information later about some of the small clinics. This website is mainly visited by tourists and information about animal hospitals isn't of interest to tourists, therefore, updating this page is a low priority for me. I probably use this information more myself than visitors to this site, but putting it in the public domain means it is available to anyone who may need it.

Comments: This small clinic is in the area referred to as the 'New Market'. It's near the Daiichi hotel. The first time I spoke to the people there was when I was walking past and they were treating a dog outside. The poor thing had been attacked by another dog and half of its face had been ripped off.
It's a nice, friendly clinic. Dr Film is the vet and she is assisted by her husband and mother-in-law. They treat animals, perform surgery, do grooming, and they can also take care of small animals (cats, rabbits, etc) when you are away.
All animals can be treated including turtles, fish and exotic pets.
The clinic is open every day from 09:00 to 21:00. If your pet has a medical emergency they will receive calls 24 hours a day.

Comments: I have used this hospital quite a few times. My two cats were neutered there and a few years later the doctors saved one of my cats who I was convinced was just about to die. He was exceptionally weak and they diagnosed leukaemia. The hospital gave him a blood transfusion, cared for him, and within a few months he was back to his old self.
Unfortunately, he became severely ill a couple of years later with similar symptoms. I took his back to this hospital on a Thursday and didn't have time to visit him on Friday. On Saturday morning I was just about to visit him when the hospital called to say he had died overnight. Pets bring a lot of happiness, but they have short lives and when they die they bring a lot of sadness too. It still makes me sad to this day. RIP Monty.
The hospital is open every day from 08:30 to 20:30 and there are facilities to admit animals.
It is located next door to Central Festival, and opposite Makro.

Comments: A Faculty Of Veterinary Science was added to the Hat Yai campus of the Prince Of Songkla University and it opened officially on 21st December 2015. It is a fully functioning animal hospital and also a veterinary teaching hospital.
The medical and dental facilities for humans at PSU are excellent, and therefore I expected this new facility to be excellent too. The faculty building is on Punakan Road near Gate 109 (bra-dtoo roy gao in Thai), just before you get to the International Conference Centre and parking is quite easy on the road outside.
It is open Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 16:30, however, they will admit animals and care for them round the clock if necessary.
I haven't used it yet so can't make any comments based on personal experience. If you take your pet there, please let me have your thoughts using the form below.
