Plastic Surgery In Hat Yai

Cosmetic surgery procedures are very popular in Hat Yai. The doctors performing these procedures see many patients and therefore have a lot of experience. Many operations are now quite routine and the doctors do a good job.

During my early years in Thailand I didn't realise that a lot of young Thai girls from the Isaan region have nose implants. I didn't realise because there are no outward signs of surgery and the results look very natural.

Many Thais, espacially from the northeast region, have quite flat faces and the bridge of the nose isn't very well defined. This surgery makes the nose look sharper and more attractive.

In addition to being very competent, the cosmetic surgeons in Hat Yai also charge very little compared to Western countries. I have hated my nose my whole life and would have had surgery in my younger days if I could afford it, but I couldn't. In Thailand it is very affordable.

In Hat Yai many Malaysians and Singaporeans visit the town purely to undergo cosmetic surgery. Again, it is because the doctors are very good and because it is a lot cheaper compared to their home countries - especially Singapore, which is one of the most expensive countries in the world.

The disadvantage for Caucasian patients is that many of the procedures are specifically for Asians. I always wanted my nose to be smaller, but many Asians having nose surgery actually make the nose bigger by inserting an implant.

Asian eyelid surgery (double eyelid surgery) is another common procedure, but this is unnecessary with Caucasian eyes.

I am not an advocate of cosmetic surgery unless a physical trait you possess causes extreme anxiety or severe psychological problems. Surgery always carries a degree of risk, no matter what kind of surgery, and I would only undergo surgery if it was absolutely necessary, which cosmetic surgery (in my opinion) isn't.

It is also quite addictive and some people who start having surgery don't seem to be able to stop. However, if you are seriously considering surgery Hat Yai is as good a place as ever.

In the past there have been a few news stories of cosmetic surgery going wrong in Thailand and patients dying during operations. This has happened to Thais as well as foreigners.

I think that in most cases the doctor who performed the operation, although medically qualified, wasn't qualified to perform cosmetic surgery.

In Hat Yai there are a few very well known cosmetic surgeons who have performed thousands of operations and judging from what I have heard and read they have very reliable reputations.

Always do your own research and make sure that you have complete confidence in the doctor.

Comments: Dr Kuldech Techanaparukse B. Sc., MD is on the Board of Plastic Surgery and is another Hat Yai plastic surgeon with many years experience.

In his clinic is his graduation certificate with a picture of a young doctor in his 20's. When I met him he looked to be in his 60's and he told me the photo was taken 40 years ago. The world is obsessed with youth, but when I see a doctor the most important thing for me is experience - lots of experience.

Dr Kuldech offers many standard plastic surgery procedures including the following:

Comments: This clinic is located opposite Odean Fashion Mall. When I first arrived in Hat Yai it was The Pubb, a busy bar with live music every night. The Pubb closed some years ago and eventually it was replaced by this clinic.

The two doctors are a husband and wife team and they studied together at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University. This is one of the best universities in Thailand.

Dr Pataradon Muangsombut is a certified plastic surgeon and Dr Pacharporn Muangsombut is a doctor with a Master's degree in dematology.

The clinic carries out skin, cosmetic, laser and plastic surgery.

Comments: I found out many years ago that lots of Singaporeans come to Hat Yai to have nips, tucks, and other cosmetic surgery procedures performed.

Hat Yai clinics have possibly the lowest prices anywhere for plastic surgery.

I have seen lots of positive comments by Singaporeans on Internet forums about Dr Nara's work and prices. They say his results are very natural-looking, and his prices are the lowest available. I didn't see one negative comment. Looking at the information on his web site, he is very well-qualified.

He has an excellent reputation among local Thais, as well as the Singaporeans and Malaysians who visit Hat Yai solely to have a procedure done with him.

I am told that his work is very good and his prices very reasonable.

Appointments are necessary. The clinic opening hours are 10am to 8pm (Monday to Friday), 9am to 4pm (Saturday), and 9am to noon (Sunday).

The procedure was done at the clinic, it was scary at first but for the price am paying I don't require all that fancy stuff hospitals offer. His nurse is always on point and I suggest anyone who wants to see him, walk-in and have a consultation with him first and judge for yourself his quality of service. Comments: This clinic offers a very extensive range of treatments from body scrubs and treating acne to full facial design and plastic surgery. It is run by two female doctors who work full time in local Hat Yai hospitals.

From Monday to Friday the clinic is open from 12:00 to 20:00. On Saturday and Sunday it is open from 10:00 to 20:00. However, please be aware that from Monday to Friday the doctors are only at the clinic from 17:00 to 20:00. Presumably, the staff at the clinic can perform body scrubs and aromatherapy etc during the daytime when the doctors aren't around, but not any medical procedures.

The location is near to Diana department store, just opposite the branch of McDonalds next to Diana.

Comments: Businesses close and reopen under different ownership all the time in Hat Yai. This private clinic used to be run by a doctor who worked full time at the Bangkok Hat Yai hospital called Dr Chirayut Tolertmongkhol.

It is now run by Dr Weerapong Lertsuwannawin and the clinic has another name.

Comments: I've known for many years that lots of Malaysians and Singaporeans come to Hat Yai specifically for cosmetic surgery procedures. Prices are much cheaper than in their home countries and the Thai doctors have a good reputation. The names of certain doctors come up regularly whenver I discuss this topic with people visiting Hat Yai for plastic surgery. I believe that Dr Prinya Soontrapornchai is very well known in Malaysia and Singapore.

His business card lists the following procedures:

From Monday to Friday the clinic is open from 09:00 to 13:00 and again from 16:30 and 20:00. On Saturdays it is open from 09:00 to 16:00 and on Sunday from 09:00 to 13:00.

The location is fairly easy to find. As you drive along Suphasarnrangsan Road from Gim Yong Market to the Prince of Songkla University you will pass the big intersection where Rajyindee Road meets Suphasarnrangsan Road. On three corners of this intersection are motorbike shops.

Dr Prinya's clinic (painted salmon pink) is located next door to the Suzuki dealership. In the photo I have included the Suzuki dealership in order to help you locate the clinic.

Comments: This doctor was recommended to some Singaporean acquaintances who were making enquiries about plastic surgery in Hat Yai. It seems that he does all the usual nosejobs, eyelid surgery, tummy tucks, etc.

I have never been to a plastic surgeon in Hat Yai and have no interest in going, therefore, none of the information here is based on personal experience.

My personal view is that any kind of surgery is risky, especially it it involves a general anaesthetic. I will undergo surgery if it is essential to my health, but wouldn't elect to have surgery that wasn't necessary.

I do understand that certain physical characteristics in some people can cause immense psychological stress and I can understand why these people have plastic surgery. It's a personal choice.

I hope that the information here is useful, but if you elect to see a plastic surgeon it is purely your decision.

The clinic is located near to the large junction where Thamanoonvithi and Rajyindee roads intersect. It's a little way from the downtown area, but not too far. A tuk-tuk or motorbike taxi will get you there in a few minutes, or you can walk.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays the clinic is open in the evening between 17:00 and 20:00. On Saturdays it is open from 09:00 to 14:00. It is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
