Comments: This dentist is located just around the corner from the Sakura Grand View hotel.

Dr Korn (pronounced Gorn) qualified in Edinburgh, which on the clinic's business card is described as being in England. I don't think our Scottish friends would be very pleased about this.

Treatments offered include: Dental Implant, Oral Surgery, Fillings, Scaling, Root Canal Treatment, Dental Prosthesis, Crown and Bridge, Orthodontic Treatment.

One of the full-time staff I used to work with at the Prince of Songkla dental hospital works part-time at Dr Korn's clinic. The clinic has a very good reputation.

According to the sign outside, the clinic opens from 09:00 to 20:00 from Monday to Friday. On Saturday and Sunday it is open from 09:00 to 16:00.

While experiencing quite a bad bout of toothache I went along to this clinic. It was closed with a sign saying it would be open the next day. I went back the next day after the official opening time and it was still closed. I went back two days later and it was still closed.

In the Thai value system, time isn't very important. Thais regularly turn up very late for appointments, and sometimes not at all. Advertised opening times are also very lax.

When the establishment is a doctor's or dentist's clinic you would hope that they would be more professional, but unfortunately Thai culture overrides professionalism every time.

It would therefore be advisable to call ahead before visiting this clinic in person in order to save a wasted journey.

Dr. Korn teaches implant in university. He only comes in after 5.00 pm to attend to patients. His wife, also a dental surgeon, (known as Dr Yue) is the mainstay dentist. She is a very caring and meticulous doctor. She is also utterly gentle too. Charges are most reasonable compared to my country, Singapore. Have recommended many friends and they are very pleased with Dr Yue. I usually include checking and cleaning of my oral in my frequent visits to Hatyai. (More than 6 occasions from 2008 to 2012)

Comments: Dr Paitoon's clinic is located near to Gim Yong market, the Singapore Hotel, and Ghia Color Lab.

From Monday to Friday the clinic is open from 16:30 to 20:00. On Saturday and Sunday it is open from 09:00 to 20:00.

Specialist in crowns and dentures. Teaches at the dental hospital of the POS University. Not cheap but very good (August 2018)

Comments: This is a fairly large hospital; not a small clinic. However, there are several clinics within the hospital that specialise in different types of dentistry, including a children's clinic.

The doctors provide a complete range of treatments from simple fillings to advanced oral and maxillofacial surgery. They also perform cleft palate and cleft lip surgery on newborn infants.

The doctors here can do everything the small clinics do plus a lot more.

Tha facility at Mor Or (as it is known locally) is a combined university and hospital. The university has a strong emphasis on all areas of medicine. For this reason the dental hospital building is also the university dental faculty.

If you want to save some money you can let a dentist student look at your teeth. They don't have as much experience as qualified dentists but they are careful and well supervised.

Comments: I always knew that Hat Yai had a lot of dentists, but after I began doing this I became more aware of dental clinics and it has even surprised me how many there actually are. There are dentists absolutely everywhere in Hat Yai.

This one is near the Cholatarn hotel and Only One massage shop.

From Monday to Friday the clinic opens from 17:00 to 21:00. On Saturday it is open from 13:30 to 19:30 and on Sunday from 09:30 to 15:30.

Comments: Doctor Thongtip is located on busy Suphasarnrangsan Road, which is the main area for private clinics in Hat Yai. There is a higher concentration of clinics in this area than anywhere else in Hat Yai.

From Monday to Saturday the clinic opens from 09:00 to 20:00. On Sunday it is open from 09:00 to 16:00.

Patient Comments:

Dr Thongtip appears to have studied in Thailand and Sweden. As a result, her English isn't that good, even though Thai doctors and dentists use a lot of English text books while they are studying. Most Thai doctors work or study abroad for a while and the ones that go to English speaking countries come back with a very good grasp of the language.
She seems to have a fair amount of experience and it was probably due to the fact that she has filled thousands of teeth that she chatted to her assistant the whole time she was removing one of my old fillings. Doing fillings must be very routine and boring for experienced dentists.
However, I get quite anxious when the dentist's drill is whining away inside my mouth expecting it to drill into a live nerve at any time. At this time I want to feel that the dentist is concentrating 100% on the job in hand.
When I sit there in the dentists's chair with the drill whining away listening to the dentist chat about food, shopping and buying houses it doesn't give me the impression that she is concentrating 100% and this irritates me a little. No doubt, she can perform routine tasks on autopilot and talking incessantly doesn't affect her performance, but I found the experience a little disconcerting.
She charged me Bt150 for an X-Ray and Bt900 for the filling: Total Bt1,050. Unfortunately, the tooth she filled didn't have a problem and it didn't cure my toothache. (March 2013)

Comments: This is a combined dental clinic and coffee shop. The coffee shop is on the ground floor and the dental clinic is upstairs.

The clinic is run by Asst. Prof. Dr. Udom Thongudomporn.

From Monday to Friday the clinic opens from 17:00 to 19:30. On Saturday it is open from 09:00 to 15:30 and on Sunday from 09:00 to 11:30.

Comments: This dental practice is run by Doctor Witchuda Chanasongkram, who specialises in restorative dentistry. There are many private dental clinics on this road. The clinic is located next door to the Viva Beauty Clinic.

Treatments offered include crowns, bridges, inlays, overlays, veneers, implants, orthodontics, and tooth whitening. The dentist works full time at the Prince of Songkla dental faculty and runs this private clinic in the evenings and at weekends.

From Monday to Friday the clinic opens from 17:00 to 20:00. On Saturday and Sunday it is open from 09:00 to 17:00.

Comments: This clinic is located near Hat Yai Hospital and the Fresh Market. This part of Hat Yai is very 'Third World', but it's quite interesting. The clinic looks quite old-fashioned but, knowing what I know about Thai dentists, I'm sure the treatment is fine. I haven't used this dental clinic personally.

Quite a few private dental clinics in Hat Yai are run by dentists who have full-time jobs elsewhere, therefore the clinics only open in the evening and at weekends. This one is open every day during the day, which is a lot more convenient.

From Monday to Friday the clinic opens from 09:00 to 18:00. On Saturday it is open from 09:00 to 17:00 and on Sunday from 09:00 to 12:00.

Comments: Most Hat Yai dentists who own private clinics work full time in one of Hat Yai's public or private hospitals and because of their work commitments they can only open their clinics in the evening and at weekends.

This isn't always convenient and if you have a raging toothache in the morning you may not want to wait until the evening to see a dentist.

This clinic is different in that the dentist works there full time and it is open every day from 10:00 to 16:00.
